Maker-Space outreach to McMillan Magnet Center

Through my job as a Maker Corps Mentor with the Omaha Children’s Museum, sometimes the opportunity arises to do some outreach to local schools and organizations. Recently, McMillan Magnet Center requested that our Maker-Space come out and do a workshop for three groups of students. We brought with us a pile of materials and taught the students about making paper circuits using copper tape, LEDs and batteries.

These groups of kids were a bit older than the ages that the Museum generally serves (0-8), and they seemed to have a hard time paying attention and not letting frustration get the better of them. Nonetheless, they were all able to construct basic paper circuits and leave the room with a little more knowledge about basic electronics!
